Things to do on Orcas Island

Bicycling

Conveniently located only one mile away from Eastsound, which is a perfect destination for guests wanting to do some Orcas Island biking. Bring your own bicycle or rent from Wildlife Cycles over in Eastsound. Cyclists looking for a challenging ride enjoy the 50 miles of public roadways, rugged terrain, and impressive scenic views along the bike routes.

Whale watching

Whale watching in Orcas Island is a captivating experience you truly cannot miss. Outer Island Excursions, within walking distance, is a great tour company with a whale sighting guarantee! If you do not see a whale on your trip, you can take another tour for free.

hiking trails

Moran State Park is a wonderful destination for a day of fun and exploration. At 5,252 acres, with more than 30 miles of hiking trails, 11 miles of biking trails year-round and up to 25 miles seasonally. On-the water, fun of kayaking and fishing for rainbow trout.

KAYAKING

Have fun with a self-guided tour or with an experienced tour guide and outfitter with kayaking on Orcas Island, which is a perfect spot for beginners with calm and protected waters and more than 125 miles of shoreline. From the North Shore, you can access marine parks or head inland toward Moran State Park and kayak on Cascade Lake or Mountain Lake.

Fishing Charters

Outer Island Excursions offers salmon and bottom fishing charters throughout the San Juan Islands. They can take you fishing for salmon, lingcod, rockfish, halibut, cabezon, flounder, greenling and many other species. Go after Dungeness and Red Rock Crab. During the early spring, we will drop some pots for pink and spot shrimp. Orcas Island whale watching can be combined with a fishing charter for the ultimate Island adventure!
