Activities on Orcas Island

One of the advantages of staying here at The Salish Seaside Escapes is that we are conveniently located only one mile away from Eastsound, which is a perfect destination for guests wanting to do some Orcas Island biking. Bring your own bicycle or rent from Wildlife Cycles over in Eastsound.

Cyclists looking for a challenging ride enjoy the 50 miles of public roadways, rugged terrain, and impressive scenic views along the bike routes. Some of the more popular routes include Horseshoe Highway which is relatively flat and short, but cyclists will encounter more traffic along this route, then there’s the ride along Enchanted Forest Road for a hilly excursion with stunning views, or the White Beach/Dolphin Bay route if you prefer sharing the road with fewer cars. Please note that none of the islands have dedicated bicycle lanes and you will be sharing the road with vehicles.

Another option is to bike into Moran State Park for its trail riding. Bikers can challenge themselves with the steep climb to the top of Mount Constitution, with an elevation of 2,409 ft., providing cyclists with a remarkable view of the San Juan Islands and the mainland of Washington State Wildlife Cycles offers maps of the Park if you’re interested in mountain biking there.

Orcas Island is a great biking destination for experienced cyclists looking for winding roads with spectacular scenery. There’s no shortage of fun ways to explore the island or things to do during your stay at The Salish Seaside Escapes.
