The Screech Owl Swoop offers a gorgeous view, complete privacy, and an amazing tree perched deck. This secluded Orcas Island vacation rental is located just across the lane from all our other cottages, so while it is not waterfront, the private upper story space offers views out across the Georgia Straits, Patos and Sucia Islands. Screech Owl guests are, of course, welcome to wander down to the water via our pathway on the waterfront side, and enjoy the shared sauna located on our property grounds.
The upper level of Screech Owl features a beautiful great room with stone fireplace, TV/DVD/CD system, huge picture windows, a Queen-sized sleeper sofa, and sumptuous leather furniture that invites you to lounge and enjoy a moment of peace. Cook up your own creations in the large, well-appointed marble kitchen or get some assistance from the mounted TV facing the kitchen on the chimney. You'll love preparing a fresh cup of our very own Salish Blend Dark Roast with the top of the line Grind & Brew coffee maker to greet the morning.
The bedroom’s main attraction is the beautiful, canopied, antique four-poster Queen-sized bed that towers to the ceiling – we even added a bed step to get into it. French doors from the bedroom and a sliding glass door in the living room take you out to the beautiful deck with a dining table and gas grill. Wind your way down the staircase that wraps around a huge old growth cedar to relax in the private hot tub and revel in the quiet that’s found at our Orcas Island lodging.
Please note that the Screech Owl Swoop cottage is only an upper level unit with the property managers in the space on the lower level. Each level is completely private with its own separate entrance.
"We rented Screech Owl cottage for 2 days in early July for 4 people. My parents who were visiting and 2 of us. What a great experience we had from the time we arrived. We got checked in relatively quickly after we arrived on time. This cottage is not on the waterfront but I liked it as it accommodates 4 people, as it has a sofa bed in the living room.
We were charmed by the cottage as everything in it was owls, owl umbrella stand, owl vases, owl cups and owl lamps and other assorted owl decor. We played a game where points would be awarded every time someone discovered a new owl something, and we had lot of fun! I loved the old world shabby chic feel of the place. My parents were just there to relax as they arrived after a long international journey and this was the perfect place. We enjoyed walking down to the nearby oceanfront to watch the sunsets. Due to Orca Island's location, the nearby beach is perhaps the best place to watch the sunset." – TripAdvisor, July 2014
