“I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Salish on Orcas Island. I think it was my 4th trip and each time seems better than the last. The owners are so friendly and welcoming! They work hard to make it a memorable experience for each of their guests. This time we stayed in Orca Watch, which is an adorable cottage shaped like a boat. I grew up on the water on my dad's gillnetter and my grandparents' sailboat. When I stepped inside Orca Watch, I was in 7th Heaven! All the furnishings were made to look the like the inside of a ship and the front windows afford a view across the water from the North Shore of Orcas. Antique brass fixtures, steering wheels, oiled teak...all evoked memories from my past. It even has the smell of a ship with all that wood. It's all the little touches that make it so special. It was very clean and the bed was comfy and soft. I loved the portholes above the bed. The galley was fully equipped with everything we could possibly need and the TV allowed us to watch football, which my boyfriend very much enjoyed. Leather couches provide a great place for lounging. There is a private hot tub and a community sauna, which proved to be very relaxing. So many scents to choose from! The craftsmanship is incredible. The grounds are idyllic and peaceful and there's always something to see. You can walk right down to the water.
I always rave about the Salish to my friends upon my return and bombard them with photos. This is a wonderful place to stay. You won't want for anything and if you do, I'm sure the owners will figure out how to get it. Each cottage I've stayed in (Eagles' Nest, Heron Cove and Orca Watch) have themes and it makes me feel like I'm almost in a world of make believe. Stone archways to walk through, antique dishes and artwork, whimsical bird houses in the courtyard, little treasures hidden here and there. It's a magical place and I can't wait to return." – TripAdvisor, December 2016
